Course Purpose:
Professional rescuers include duty to act personnel which include EMS professionals, nurses, physicians, CNAs, and other healthcare and public safety personnel, as well as those in the athletic training and recreation fields, including lifeguards. Classes are also available for all members of the community. The primary purpose of the American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers (CPRO) program is to teach professional rescuers (i.e., those with a duty to act) the skills needed to respond appropriately to breathing and cardiac emergencies.
